Please join us for a thought provoking interchange as we gather an esteemed and diverse panel of experts representing different viewpoints to inform and educate us.
Phil Andrew is a survivor of the 1988 Hubbard Woods shooting who went on to be an FBI Agent and hostage negotiator. Now Principal of PAX Group and Director of Violence Prevention for the Archdiocese of Chicago, Phil is responsible for community partnerships and safety and coordinates inter-religious efforts to provide services for violence-affected communities.
Edward Sullivan, a lobbyist for the Illinois Rifle Association and a former Illinois State Legislature served as a public official for 25 years. Sullivan gained a reputation as the legislator best suited to negotiate and pass challenging and significant legislation. With his focus on influential legislation, he handled many of the most important issues over the past decade and successfully passed 30 bills of his own.
Mark Jones is a firearms and law enforcement subject matter expert and a consulting policy advisor with the Center for American Progress, Gun Violence Prevention program who has worked in gun violence prevention for the last ten years. Jones served as the Senior Policy Advisor to the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence (ICHV).
Professor Sheldon Nahmod is a scholar of constitutional law, faculty member of Chicago-Kent College of Law, and a graduate of Harvard Law School. He has lectured on civil rights matters and constitutional law to federal judges and attorneys throughout the country. Professor Nahmod has served as chair of the Sections on Civil Rights, Law and Education, and Law and Religion of the Association of American Law Schools.
