Virtual Lounge: Helping our Teenagers to Cope During this Difficult Time

Join fellow parents of teens for this important conversation. Topics will include:

  • How to help your teenager deal with disappointments (such as the cancellation of graduations and summer plans).
  • How parents can use positive communication to make their teens feel heard.
  • How you and your teens can deal with changes in their plans together.

Resources and tip sheets for parents will be provided.

Lisa Ehrlich-Menard, M.Ed, is the JCFS Coordinator of Outreach and Community Education. She has a BA in both Theatre and History with a focus on gender and race, and a Master’s in Education from the University of Michigan. She joined the Response for Teens after cultivating her expertise in curriculum development and youth advocacy over 13 years as a high school teacher in Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Lisa has facilitated workshops for teachers, administrators, students, and parents around mental health, sexual health, safe/ inclusive spaces, anti-bias, healthy relationships, media literacy and gender, and consent. Lisa believes in supporting youth as they work to increase their capacity to find agency and make an impact on issues that they care about.
